FRAMINGHAM: Thomas Joseph Russell, 51, a longtime resident of Framingham, MA transitioned on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland, MA after a long illness. Born in 1967 in Carlisle, PA, Tom was a 1985 graduate of Joseph P. Keefe Technical School. He worked for several years in the electrical trades before returning to school. He received a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Lowell in 1993, and worked for the Department of Justice as a Corrections Officer, at FCI Danbury (CT) and FMC Devans (MA) before retiring for medical reasons in 2012. His colleagues remember him as a mentor and role model, who was firm but fair.
Tom’s home was filled with evidence of a lifetime of hobbies and activities: shooting, archery, fishing, law enforcement, golf, auto repair, slot cars, model trains, model rockets, music, and film. He was the person folks called to help with electrical projects or auto repair – sharing generously of his tools, his time, and his experience. He loved to cook and to barbeque, and appreciated food from all parts of the world. Among his keepsakes was a photo album and backpack from a trip to the Philmont Scout Ranch during his scouting years. He loved tradition, family reunions, and gatherings at the family homestead – inheriting his mother’s love of the Christmas holiday especially.
Pre-deceased by parents William J Russell (1979) and Agnes G (Trees) Russell (2016), Tom is survived by siblings: Judith, Kathleen (Quirk) and Kevin; a brother-in-law: Thomas Quirk, and nephews and nieces Joseph and his wife Asher, Sara, Sean and Griffin. Tom has too many uncles, aunts, and cousins to list. He also leaves behind his cat Grace, who has found a loving home.
There are no public funeral home visiting hours. A private family service is planned. Tom will join his father and mother at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bausman, PA; interment is planned for July.

As we clean out Tom's place, we continue to be struck by the emotional depth of our brother - saving cards, momentos, things that he associated with specific people and specific times in his life. We struggle at times with objects or keepsakes that we do not wish to save, but knew were important to Tom. Hopefully just our handling these things one last time, finding good homes for them when we can, will honor his memory and his emotional attachment. We've memorialized his Facebook account so friends and family can post memories and photos there, and as we come across things we'll be scanning them in and adding them here and to his Facebook tribute wall. ~Jude

Tom, Kevin, John and Dennis. Never knew what they were up to. The funny thing is that the more I reminisce about old times, the more I hear from my sons of the devilment the boys got into. Many times I have heard” Mom , if you and Mrs. Russell ever knew what we did you would be shocked! Wonderful carefree days. Tom and Kevin were always so polite and innocent looking.
