Ronald John Tomassini
FRAMINGHAM: Ronald John Tomassini, 78, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 peacefully after a struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. Born and raised in Framingham, John was the son of the late Alo and Margaret (DePietro) Tomassini. He was predeceased by his son: Ronald "Ronnie" Tomassini, his brothers: James "Nipper" and Ralph Tomassini of Framingham; his nephew Michael Tomassini; and his friend Christine Snider-Mays.
John was the consummate gentleman and set high standards for himself and those around him. His love for athletics of all types was a constant in his life. He was a devoted coach of Little League Baseball and Framingham Youth Hockey for many years and loved by kids and parents alike. John was also a student of karate for many years. Later, lots of time was spent happily cheering grandchildren on from the soccer sidelines, teaching them to skate and throwing the football. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking in the mountains, bicycling, rollerblading, boating, fishing and relaxing at the ocean or the lakes of NH. His first love was that of his children and grandchildren, spending many summers at Humarock Beach with his children, and Cape Cod and New Hampshire with his grandchildren. He also loved to travel to Italy and Switzerland.
John worked at GTE/ General Dynamics in Needham and Taunton for 30 years. He was hard working and dedicated and well respected for his integrity by his peers as well as the government representatives with whom he interacted.
John is survived by his devoted and loving partner of many years, Helen Humphrey of Millis. He also leaves his adored children/grandchildren: Cheryl Tomassini of Gloucester & her daughter Liana; Ruthann "Cubby" Ternullo, her husband Phil of Tewksbury and her daughters Sarah Sanborn & Kristen & Katie Kinney; and Richard Tomassini, his wife Ann, and their son Tyler of Southborough; Helen's sons: Stephen and Charles Humphrey. He is also survived by his siblings: Robert & his wife Josette of Framingham, Richard & his wife Donna of Cumberland, RI, Raymond Tomassini of Framingham, and a sister: Margaret "Honey" Lefter of Leominster; 2 great grandsons, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, and Helen's granddaughters and great grandchildren; John also is survived by the mother of his children: Ruthann Tomassini of Framingham, and her sisters, Elaine Dodos of Westborough and Janet Murphy of Framingham.
Visiting hours are Monday April 23 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Boyle Bros. Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday April 24 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church, 221 Concord St., (Rte. 126) Framingham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Pond St., Natick.
