Constance L. (Lamy) Acton
FRAMINGHAM: Constance L. Acton, 95, of Framingham, MA died April 1, 2018, after 16 years of living with Alzheimer’s. Born Constance Lorraine Lamy on Dec. 16, 1922 in Springfield, she was a graduate of Westfield State Teachers College in 1944. Connie taught for one year in the Hartford School system, before marrying the late John C. Acton, of Framingham. In 1970, she returned to teaching at Miriam McCarthy Elementary School, Framingham, where she was a beloved Title 1 Teacher for 23 years.
Connie and her family summered on Nantucket for six decades, most of the time spent in her home, “All Inn” in Siasconset, until the ocean swept it away. She was a life-long New Deal Democrat, and served as Democratic State Committeewoman for eight years in the 1950s.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband, brother Bernard Lamy, sister Madeleine Haley, daughters, Kathleen Acton Burke and Judith Acton Fitzsimmons, and her son, Michael Acton. She is survived by her brother, Richard Lamy, and his wife, Marilyn, of Trumbull, CT, her children, Sarah J. Barton and family of Wayland, Constance M. Fitzgerald and family of Newton, John C. Acton Jr. of Framingham, Thomas S. Acton, of Ashland, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, spanning the land.
Visiting hours are Friday April 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Boyle Bros. Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday April 7th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Church, 830 Worcester Rd., (Rte. 9 Eastbound) Framingham Centre. Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Fenwick St., Framingham.
